Roundtable 1: Citizens' Engagement for Developing Urban Transport Solutions

We are happy to share that MobiliseHER is organizing a round table conference at the Urban Mobility India Conference 2025, to be held in Gurugram.

Efficient urban transport planning is a complex process involving multiple stakeholders and layers of decision-making. Despite major investments in infrastructure and technology, cities continue to face congestion, pollution, and limited mobility options that affect residents’ daily lives.

Gender inclusion remains a critical gap; mobility barriers still restrict access to education, employment, and opportunities. Current planning frameworks, such as Comprehensive Mobility Plans (CMPs) does not actively consider the diverse needs of citizens and lack inclusive engagement. To create equitable and sustainable transport systems, citizen participation and gender perspectives must be embedded throughout the planning process — ensuring that urban mobility truly serves all users while building public trust and accountability.

Insights from the three project cities — Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Kochi — will be presented on varied mobility needs and experiences of different citizen groups. This session will explore how integrating citizen participation and gender inclusion throughout the transport planning process can lead to more equitable, sustainable, and responsive mobility systems.
