About Event
The Co-creation and Consultation Workshop under the MobiliseHER initiative was inaugurated by the Hon. Mayor of Kochi Municipal Corporation. Organised by the Centre for Heritage, Environment and Development (C-HED) in partnership with the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) and in collaboration with Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA), the workshop brought together elected representatives from various wards of Kochi.
The councillors were introduced to MobiliseHER initiative’s vision of fostering inclusive, gender-sensitive, and sustainable urban mobility in Kochi through participatory planning, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven strategies aligned with national and global sustainability goals.
Following this, an interactive session on Gender Responsive Mobility Planning, led by Sri. Adarshkumar, Director of SiRST, highlighted the importance of applying a gender lens to urban transport planning to enhance safety, accessibility, and inclusivity for women and other vulnerable groups.
The concluding session featured a capacity-building activity aimed at deepening participants’ understanding of gendered mobility challenges. It focused on collaborative vision-building for inclusive and gender-responsive mobility in Kochi, engaging elected representatives in structured dialogue and ideation. These discussions encouraged reflection on lived experiences, policy gaps, and opportunities for inclusive design, while exploring co-created solutions and capacity-building pathways for equitable urban transport.
