About Event
The MobiliseHER EU-India Dialogue provided a pivotal platform to drive meaningful progress in inclusive urban mobility. This initiative brought together cities, experts, and key stakeholders for insightful discussions, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration to reimagine mobility through a gendered lens.
Session 1:
Discussions with experts from both India and the EU highlighted a global challenge—women’s mobility remains restricted due to low workforce participation in the transport sector and persistent safety concerns. Despite their distinct travel patterns, often shaped by caregiving responsibilities, public transport systems remain largely unresponsive to their needs.
Session 2:
The guided dialogue offered a platform for delegates from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi to showcase their initiatives, policies, and on-the-ground realities. Civil society organisations and government officials shared their interventions and aspirations within their respective fields. The session enabled in-depth exchanges among participants from different cities, offering insights into local, city-specific challenges and potential solutions related to gender-responsive mobility planning (GRMP).
Session 3: The final session’s mapping exercise created an opportunity for ideation and co-creation, focusing on identifying key mobility challenges in specific neighbourhoods. This exercise encouraged participants to think beyond their own contexts, deepening their understanding of the challenges and aspirations faced by other urban areas.
Collectively, the dialogue laid the groundwork for developing collaborative frameworks and actionable strategies to tackle gendered mobility challenges across India and beyond. It emphasised the urgency of advancing inclusive transport through integrated technology, policy reforms, and participatory governance.
